Please read below a list of the most frequently asked questions by end users regarding the LiveDigitalCopy process. Additional information for Content Owners and Replicators is available here.
When I insert the DVD the computer asks me for a "DVD Code". What do I need to enter?
Every LiveDigitalCopy DVD comes with a unique "DVD Code". This "DVD Code" can be printed on the cover, an inlay or on the DVD itself and looks like "UL-123456-123456-123451234512345123451234". If you can't find your "DVD Code", please contact the shop you purchased the DVD from.
When I insert the DVD the computer asks me for an email address but I don't have one. Can I continue?
No. You need to specify an email address. This is important to enable you later to identify yourself if you want to transfer the movie other devices or if you need a replacement for the movie.
What are the system requirements for performing the "digital copy"?
You need to have Windows PC with Windows XP or later with an installed DVD-Player software and a DVD-ROM drive capable of reading the LiveDigitalCopy enabled DVD.
My computer shows a message that a DVD-Player software is required. What can I do?
A DVD-Player is often part of the operating system (e.g. with Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium) and pre-installed on almost every computer that includes a DVD drive. If your computer does not have a DVD-Player software installed you can purchase a DVD player online or download the free "AC3Filter" from the official WMPlugins page for Microsoft Windows Media Player. Make sure the product of your choice is intended for your region and complies with local and international laws.
My computer shows a message that my computer needs a "security upgrade". What does that mean?
From time to time Microsoft releases security upgrades for Microsoft Windows. If not all security updates are present, your computer may be vulnerable to threads. The upgrade makes sure your computer is running the latest version of the required components. To continue, you need to perform the update.
I don't have an internet connection on the computer with the DVD drive. Can I still create a "digital copy"?
No. An internet connection is required to start the process. Once the "digital copy" is completed, internet access is not any longer required.
I don't see an export to the device of my choice in the target section dialog. Why?
The rights owner can select to which devices he wants to allow an export. This decision can be different from movie to movie. If you feel it important that additional devices should be supported, we recommend to send an email requesting support for the device of your choice to the DVD Publisher of your DVD.
The "digital copy" process was interrupted before the file was finished. What can I do? Can I repeat the process to get my "digital copy"?
No problem. You can just repeat the process as before. If you have already a local export license stored on your machine the software will inform you and you can directly go to the export process.
The process fails at some step. What can I do?
